Debunking Myths About Artificial Grass

For all the obvious benefits of artificial grass, we often still come across some myths about this fantastic product. Whether it’s down to outdated ideas about the product or just because someone heard something from their uncle’s friend’s sister, there are always myths out there that are perpetuated, mainly via the internet.

This month at Easigrass Surrey, we wanted to cover some of the most common myths about artificial grass and debunk them for you so that you can decide on whether it’s the right move for your garden.

 

Myth: Artificial grass isn’t good for dogs

The origin of this myth may well be down to how artificial grass used to be made and a lack of quality in the industry at that time, but nowadays it couldn’t be further from the truth.

We all know how important the outdoors is for a dog of any size, so having robust artificial grass that is safe for dogs means they can play all day long and you’ll never need to deal with muddy paws again. Myth: Artificial grass doesn’t look realistic

Again, this myth might be based on outdated perceptions. Once upon a time, artificial grass may have been poor in quality, but the Easigrass range has been developed to be as realistic and natural looking as possible. Of course, if someone were to get on their hands and knees and inspect the lawn up close, it might then be a little more obvious, but otherwise it simply looks like a well-maintained and healthy lawn.

 

Myth: Artificial grass doesn’t drain well

Rainwater is, of course, a big concern for a lot of people, as no one wants a flooded lawn. Myth: Artificial grass is bad for the environment

Myth: Artificial grass is too expensive

Because you don’t need a lawnmower, fertiliser or water, you only pay the initial price for artificial grass. For natural turf, you’re paying for it over the years and there is no guarantee it will stay looking as fresh as when it was first laid if you begin to neglect those aspects.

 

Myth: Artificial grass gets too hot

For Easigrass products, this is a myth because of the triple yarn used, but for low-quality artificial grass, it may be a harsh truth. This is because some artificial grass is made without the consideration for how it will feel underfoot and it’s part of the process less reputable manufacturers skip to cut costs. 

We don’t get an abundance of direct, constant sunlight here in the UK, but even for those few days or weeks in summer where it is hot, you’ll still be able to comfortably walk on an Easigrass lawn. We do recommend hosing your artificial lawn a little in extreme heat if you want to make sure it remains cool enough for children and pets.

 

Myth: Artificial grass isn’t safe for children

We’re not quite sure where this myth comes from, but once again it may be down to outdated notions of what artificial grass is made from and how it’s installed.
